01Who we are and what this covers

This policy describes how the operator of Cutlify AI ("Cutlify", "we", "us") handles personal information in the Cutlify iPhone app, on cutlify.ai, and when you contact us. The operator is responsible for the personal information we decide to collect and use.

Cutlify is a video editor for creators who talk to the camera. Editing happens on your iPhone. AI features (AI edits, captions and B-roll ideas) use cloud services, and only after you allow it in the app.

02Information we handle

• Account information: your account identifier, email address, and the identity information Apple or Google shares when you sign in, such as your name. Apple may give us a private relay email. We never receive your Apple or Google password.
• Audio of your takes: when you use an AI feature, the app extracts the audio track on your iPhone and uploads only that audio. Your videos are not uploaded. The audio contains your voice and anything said in the recording.
• Transcripts and AI results: the words spoken in the audio with their timings, the AI edit’s decisions (cuts, camera moves, sounds, B-roll ideas), and the positions of faces in the frame. Face positions are measured on your iPhone and sent as coordinates, never as images, and are not used to recognize anyone.
• Projects: project names and each saved version of your edit (the timeline, texts you add, caption text and styles) are stored so an AI edit can be applied and a project can be recovered. Your media files stay on your iPhone.
• Stock searches: words you search for stock videos and photos.
• Plan and usage: your plan, trial status, and how many AI edits you have used, and the App Store purchase events needed to keep them correct.
• App usage and crash reports: app opens, screens viewed, features used (for example which editing tools, and whether an AI edit was applied or undone), errors shown in the app, crash reports, device and app details such as the model, iOS version and app version, and an approximate location (country and city) derived from your IP address. These are linked to your account identifier, never to your email, and never include video, audio, transcripts, or the text you write.
• Support correspondence: your contact information, message, and anything you choose to attach.

We do not collect your contacts, precise location, or advertising identifier.

03Why we use it

We use this information to sign you in, provide the features you ask for, apply and recover edits, manage your plan and AI edits, understand which features work and where people get stuck, fix errors and crashes, protect accounts, prevent abuse, answer requests, and meet legal obligations.

Where a legal basis is required, providing the service relies on performing our agreement with you; product analytics, security, and troubleshooting rely on our legitimate interests; sending your audio to AI providers relies on the permission you give in the app; and records required by law rely on legal obligations. You can withdraw a permission for future processing at any time.

We do not show ads, sell personal information, or track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

04AI features and your audio

Before an AI feature uses a take for the first time, the app asks for your permission and names the services involved. If you choose “Not now”, nothing is uploaded and you can keep editing on your iPhone.

When you allow it, the audio is uploaded to private storage operated for us by Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United States. Deepgram transcribes it. We opt every request out of Deepgram’s model-improvement program, so Deepgram keeps the audio only as long as needed to process it. An AI model provider receives the transcript (not the audio) to plan the AI edit and suggest B-roll. We use Anthropic (Claude) today and may use OpenAI or Google (Gemini) instead. We use each through its paid business API, under terms that do not allow it to train its models on this data; each may keep it for a limited time to detect abuse.

Cutlify does not identify people, create voiceprints, or make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects. Review every AI result before you publish it: transcripts and suggestions can be wrong.

05Service providers and other disclosures

We use these providers to run Cutlify. They process information on our behalf, for the purposes below.

We may also disclose information when legally required, to protect rights and safety, to investigate abuse, to obtain professional advice, or as part of a merger or transfer of the business, with the safeguards and notice the law requires. Nothing you upload is made public. If you export and share a video, the people and platforms you share it with handle it under their own rules.

06Storage, retention, and deletion

• On your iPhone: your videos, projects and exports stay on your device, separately for each account signed in on it, until you delete them or delete your account.
• Audio, transcripts and AI results: kept while your account exists. Intermediate processing files expire after 30 days.
• Account, projects, plan and usage records: kept while your account exists.
• Operational logs: kept for 14 days.
• Usage analytics and crash reports: kept by PostHog under its retention period, linked only to your account identifier.

Deleting your account (Settings → Account → Delete account in the app) immediately deletes your sign-in, your uploaded audio, transcripts, AI results, project versions, plan and usage records from our systems, and your account’s projects on that iPhone. Usage analytics stay under an account identifier that no longer belongs to anyone. Copies in provider backups expire on their normal schedules. See Account & data deletion.

We may keep limited records where the law requires it or to establish or defend legal claims, with access restricted.

07Security and international processing

We use authenticated requests, access controls, private storage, encrypted connections, and encryption of stored data. No system is completely secure.

Our services run in the United States. If you live elsewhere, your information is processed there, under the legal transfer safeguards that apply. Contact us for details.

08Your choices and privacy rights

• AI features: choose “Not now” when the app asks, and nothing is uploaded.
• Usage analytics: turn off Settings → Privacy → Share usage data in the app.
• Deletion: delete your account in the app at any time.
• Permissions: manage camera, microphone and photo access in iOS Settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or get a copy of your information; to restrict or object to certain processing; to withdraw consent; and to complain to your data-protection authority. Send a request through our privacy contact. We may ask for proportionate verification and will respond within the time the law requires. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

09Website storage and external links

This website does not use advertising cookies or marketing analytics. Our hosting provider processes the request information needed to serve it. Links to other services lead to their own privacy practices.

10Age, changes, and contacting us

Cutlify is intended for adults aged 18 or older and is not directed to children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

We update this policy when our practices change; the date above shows this version. Where required, we will give notice or ask for consent before using personal information in a new way.
